Police Explorers is an organization that gives high school students a unique opportunity to participate in a range of activities from community events to police training sessions. Meetings are held once a week, where the Explorers are introduced to law enforcement. Qualified Explorers are offered Ride-alongs, where they ride with Post advisors and provide support to the Police Department's Field Operations. These Police Explorers also have the chance to participate in additional training sessions and learn more in depth about particular subjects.

Unitown is a three-day program focusing on prejudice reduction and leadership development. Unitown is sponsored by the Coral Springs Multi-Cultural Advisory Committee and is facilitated by the National Conference for Community and Justice.

Fire Explorers

Open to teens ages 14-18, the Fire Explorers program is taught by highly trained advisors and conveys basic fire fighting skills and procedures. The Fire Explorers meet once a week for approximately 4 hours, which also counts toward volunteer service hours.

The Coral Springs Cadet Squadron of Civil Air Patrol, a US Air Force Auxiliary, operates a program for young women and men, ages 12-21, who have an interest in aerospace education, Emergency services, disaster relied and the cadet leadership program.

Teen Leadership: clubs, adventure programs, Black Achievers, Earth Service Corps, Leader Clubs, Hi-Y, Youth and Government, Model United Nations, middle school programs and more for youths, YMCA programs and more for youths. YMCA programs help teens learn how to express themselves, come together for a common cause and be active and informed citizens. Leaders Clubs involve teens in community service projects. In Youth and Government, hands-on activities teach them about state government. Model U.N. helps them learn about world politics and the interdependence of nations.

Volunteer Services is a resource for residents of Coral Springs to get involved through volunteering in their community. Volunteer opportunities for high school students, adults and those who have been ordered by the court for a misdemeanor charge are available. Volunteer opportunities include but are not limited to on-going assignments, one day events, and responding after a disaster.

Skate Park

This 13,000 sq. foot facility is located at Betti Stradling Park, on the northeast corner of Wiles Road and Coral Springs Drive, and features a 4-foot half-pipe, various height ramps and grinding equipment. Rollerbladers and skateboarders can use the park to practice their skills. Hours of operation for the Skate Park vary by season. During the school year, typical hours are Monday through Friday from 3-9 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and on Sunday from noon to 9 p.m. The Skate Park is available in three-hour sessions. Coral Springs Teen Recreational League

They are quite a few teen recreational leagues, where teens from around the City can participate in organized sports leagues. The different sports offered include baseball, lacrosse, roller hockey, football, cheerleading, softball, BMX bike riding, basketball and soccer.

The Coral Springs Gymnasium hosts a bunch of classes geared toward teens. There are a number of dance classes ranging from ballroom to belly dancing, break dancing to hip-hop and tap. There are karate classes and cardio kick boxing classes and many more. If you want to try your hand at design, there are classes for cake and chocolate design and scrapbooking.

For teens that like the water environment a little bit more, the City offers a bunch of aquatic programs. Whether you like the backstroke or freestyle, the Coral Springs Swim Club covers them all. Other more team-oriented sports include the synchronized swimming team and water polo. There are also diving lessons and lifeguard training available.

The Coral Springs Sportsplex is home to some of the best sporting facilities in Broward County, and it is very accessible. When the weather is hot, ice-skating at Incredible Ice is a good way to cool off. The Sportsplex is also home to the tennis center where teens can channel their inner Andy Roddic or Venus and Serena Williams. Whether you want to learn how to swim or consider yourself an expert, the Aquatic Complex has pools for the competitive swimmer.

Cypress Park is for teens that enjoy the outdoors. The park has a variety of fields for different sporting activities like soccer. The jogging park is available for anyone who likes to jog, run, or sprint. The Outdoor Fitness Gym is a great way to add a little spice to an existing workout.

To beat summer boredom and have some fun, the city offers camps for teens. Kamp Kool is for 6th through 8th graders. Kamp Kool keeps kids busy through the camp's special events, tournaments, games, and field trips. For teens that need a little more excitement, there is a teen travel camp for students in 6th through 9th grades. The camp travels to different places like Boomers, Rapids Water Park, Gameworks and to movie theaters to see newly released movies.

The City of Coral Springs and Broward County Transit (BCT) are providing this community transportation service to increase the number of public transit destinations in the city.

Operating Times

The Community Bus Service operates Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 5:55 p.m. and on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4:55 p.m. There is no service on Sundays and on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and New Year's Day. The Community Bus Service works in conjunction with connections to BCT Routes 2, 34, 62, 83, and 88. There is no fare for the community bus within the City of Coral Springs. Riders making the connection with BCT will need to pay the appropriate fares. The busses operate as close to schedule as possible, although traffic conditions may cause the community bus to arrive slightly early or late. The buses are wheelchair accessible. The Green Route Bus, which runs the north side of Coral Springs, and the Blue Route Bus, which runs in the south side of the City, both make stops at Sample Road and University Drive, allowing riders to change routes. The community busses are white with green or blue striping to indicate the route color.
